Makadoutious
About Us

Makadoutious is a name created by Jam Master Jay, DJ of the legendary Hip Hop group Run DMC. Defined as "magnificent" or "extremely impressive," Makadoutious was the supreme description of what was/is "dope" or "ill." This adjective was adopted by then B Boy Ike Terjimanian, as a stage name. Along with DJ K-OS and emcee E Supreme, Dominance was formed in the early 1980's in Southern California.

Dominance was a group of teenage neighborood friends who would DJ, rhyme, and create dance routines. Dominance would get hired to provide music for house parties and school dances. Not only would this group DJ, they would also perform dance routines and rap. As the boys got older and their talent improved, Dominance moved on to clubs and larger venues.

Ike Terjimanian would eventually graduate from CSULA with a Degree in Child Development and move on to teaching. During his early teaching career, "Mr. T." would create Dance Production, a combination of various forms of dance teams, at Walter Reed Middle School. In 2001, he incorporated Hip Hop into his program. Reed's Hip Hop team set the standard for Hip Hop competitions in the dance circuit. Reed's Hip Hop team would compete against high school's with a 98% success rate. As the middle school students eventually moved on to high school teamselves, they realized that the high school's did not offer a dance elective, program, or extra curricular activity as intense as what they had been used to at Reed. These students who moved on to North Hollywood HS and Grant HS would return and request that Mr. T. create a HS level Hip Hop Crew. In August of 2005, an 18 member squad was assembled and Makadoutious was created.

Makadoutious would intensify Reed's reputation to another level. Year after year, "Maka" would amaze audiences everywhere incorporating Real Hip Hop tracks, never mainstream, within their routines. Always sporting Adidas Originals, Makadoutious continues to impress judges and audiences whether at a competition or the hundreds of performances they are regularly asked to attend.

In 2011, Makadoutious returns to the West Coast Dance Theater in Northridge and will continue to preserve the Hip Hop Culture through the Art of Dance.
